Straight answers
The things owners, builders and renovators ask us most. If yours is not here, call and ask, it costs nothing.
If the building was constructed or renovated before 1990 it is likely to contain asbestos materials, and homes built before 2004 may still contain them. The only way to know for certain is testing: we sample suspect materials and have them identified by a NATA-accredited laboratory, usually within a few days.
Yes. In NSW, more than 10 square metres of bonded asbestos must be removed by a licensed removalist, and any friable asbestos requires a Class A licensed contractor. Hazmat Projects operates under SafeWork NSW Licence AD213560.
Bonded (non-friable) asbestos is mixed into a solid matrix such as fibre-cement sheeting and is lower risk while intact. Friable asbestos can be crumbled by hand pressure and releases fibres readily, so it is removed under full containment with negative air pressure and independent clearance.
It depends on the material, its condition, access and quantity. A small bonded scope like a garage roof is priced very differently to friable removal under containment. Send photos and a rough size through the enquiry form and we will give you a clear price fast, with no obligation.
All hazardous waste is double-wrapped or sealed, transported under tracked-waste documentation and disposed of at EPA-licensed facilities. You receive the disposal records as part of your job documentation.
Yes. Removal areas are inspected before reoccupation, and friable removal requires clearance by a licensed asbestos assessor including air monitoring. The clearance certificate is part of the handover on every removal job.
Yes. Much of our commercial and industrial work happens in live environments. We plan containment, access and scheduling around your operations, including after-hours works where the program calls for it.
Yes. Asbestos-contaminated soil is a core scope, from residential fill to school grounds. The ground is assessed, classified to NSW EPA guidelines, excavated under controls, transported as tracked waste and validated so the land is proven clean for its intended use.
